We welcome you to this web site to introduce you to our Tarwin Poll Herefords herd.
This 100 Plus cow herd is the product of over seventy years of breeding by three generations of the Meikle family, with the objective of producing sound commercial cattle attractive to the regional beef industry. In the pursuit of this, we employ an appropriate mix of the technologies available to the stud sector to achieve this. This includes AI, Genomics and Performance Measurement, coupled with our strong heritage of breeding Poll Hereford cattle.

Ultimately the breeding philosophy is fairly simple according to David
• Each breeding cow has to produce at least one calf per annum.
• Heifers should have their first calf at two years.
• Bulls sold have to be tractable for their new owners.
• Cattle sold for breeding should perform to expectations for their new owners to encourage them to come back for more. Tarwin look to build a strong repeat client base.
• All cattle have to be able to perform on grass.
